The Gathering Storm
A10/11
It was too crowded and ill marshalled at the start, but I pounded on, dodged the crowds, found space and marked my equivalent runners. I smiled in the sun, I winked at the cameras, I loosened up and enjoyed the ride - I let go on the downhills (as taught to me in the backwoods of Tennessee) and listened hard to the steady beat of the devil's metronome as I made the tough ascents. I didn't sprint for the finish, I didn't need to - I finished strong and that's what mattered.
At present it's timeless - but I would guess at a comfortable 50/51....maybe? (edit...50.58)
It's certainly not my fastest on that route (we'll save that for another year) - but it might be the most fun I've ever had running it and I think I'm finally coming to realise what's more important to me.
...There was just one thing missing.
It was all up hill apart from the downhills.
Super hard 10k. Overtaking cyclists is good for the soul. 10k. 55mins.
Whatever Happened To 102?
